No. The image is processed entirely in your browser using canvas — it never leaves your device. That is why the tool works instantly and is safe for private or commercial pictures.

How well does background removal work?

It removes a plain, even background — product shots, logos, screenshots — by clearing everything connected to the frame edges that matches the background colour. For a busy photo with a person in a room, an automatic cut is not reliable; use the tolerance slider and the colour picker to control what goes.

Which format should I use on a website?

WebP for photos and graphics: at the same visual quality it is usually 25–35% smaller than JPEG and it supports transparency. AVIF is smaller still but slower to encode and not saved by every browser. Keep PNG only when you need lossless quality.

What exactly is inside favicon.ico?
